A full safari that introduces you to the pristine and remote destinations in the well-known Nsefu sector of South Luangwa. This unique area and carefully selected accommodations will not make you bored. This trip means 7 days of optimal enjoyment of pure wildlife safari combined with relax, day trips, braai and evening stories around the campfire. You will spend 5 nights on the Katunula Islands. A new safari camp between the Luangwa and Lupande rivers. Opened in 2022, the camp offers a unique location, well-maintained chalets and the showers inside the chalets have an open sky connecting you direct to sun or moon and stars. The local culture and traditions will not pass you by either. And be prepared, because this location offers you one of the best panoramic views at the Luangwa river in the valley. From here you can also book various day trips in Kakumbi, such as a Village tour, Mulberry Mongoose and the souvenir markets. The last 2 nights we take you even deeper into the wilderness of Nsefu. Zikomo safari lodge is well known on the Luangwa River. From here you can enjoy beautiful game drives that start through the Monjoti gate. Here you will find yourself almost alone in the park and get the feeling of a private safari. After the game drive you can take a dip in the pool and enjoy the great hospitality here.

Katunula Islands
The Lodge owes its name to its location at the beautiful Katunula lagoon. Katunula is not in the popular and busy area in Mfuwe, but in the pristine wilderness of Nsefu, which is home to a wealth of wildlife. The campsite is situated on a peninsula between the Katunula lagoon and two rivers, the Luangwa and the Lupande. The location offers an unforgettable panoramic view of the Luangwa River.
Zikomo Safari Camp
Zikomo Safari is in Zambia, across the river from South Luangwa National Park. It is set amidst an ancient valley filled with diverse African wildlife. This peaceful eco lodge in the African bush offers spacious accommodations: comfortable handcrafted chalets, or, if you are self-driving, an expansive campground on the riverbank.

Number of Participants
This is not a group trip but a private safari where you undertake the safari with your own composition. As a rule, the activities are undertaken together with other guests of the property. A maximum number of people per car or activity is maintained per accommodation.

Baggage limit
Due to the possible domestic flight (s), this safari has a baggage limit per person: 1 travel bag (no hard suitcases) of maximum 15 kg and 1 piece of hand luggage of maximum 5 kg.
Visa and Passport
Zambian entry visas can be obtained online through the Department of Immigration’s e-Services website or upon arrival at any port of entry. For the application you need a valid passport, a travel confirmation, one passport photo and proof of vaccination against yellow fever. If you buy a visa at the border, you only need a valid passport.
Flight Tickets
All international flights are not included. If you extend your safari in Malawi, for example, flying back from Lilongwe is an option. You can then decide for yourself which flight is the best for you.
- Arrivals in Lusaka and transfers will be picked by our representatives and kept at a lodge very covinient for your stay with security and special care being a periority.

Trip Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Zambia and Transfer to Mfuwe
Upon arrival at Lusaka KK Airport, our local representative will greet you and assist with your onward flight to Mfuwe. After arriving in Mfuwe, you will be transferred to your accommodation, a scenic 40-minute drive that takes you through diverse local habitats, remote villages, and small farms. You will be dropped off at Katunula Islands Bushcamp, situated on the banks of the Luangwa River overlooking the vast sandy hippo beaches.
Day 2 Katunula Islands Bushcamp
Your day begins with coffee or tea before 6:00 AM, followed by an early morning game drive in South Luangwa National Park. During the day, you can relax at the camp or participate in short activities. In the afternoon, prepare for an exciting night drive. Afterward, enjoy dinner or a braai by the campfire, potentially accompanied by traditional dancers and music. Each day offers new directions and experiences, showcasing the park’s diverse wildlife.
Day 3 - 6 South Luangwa National Park (Nsefu Area)
Day 3: Another early morning game drive to the Nsefu sector in North Luangwa, where you’ll encounter big game, visit hot springs, and witness beautiful sunrises. Be ready to capture photos of buffaloes, zebras, warthogs, and other wildlife. Wear dull-colored clothing like khaki or green and bring spare batteries for your camera or phone. Enjoy a bush mobile breakfast and lunch deep in the savannah woodlands.
Day 5: After the previous day’s adventure, wake up with the sunrise at the bushcamp. After an early hot shower and breakfast at 8:00 AM, embark on a village tour at 8:30 AM. Visit local communities, green markets, and interact with the friendly Mfuwe residents. Consider visiting Mulberry Mongoose, Project Luangwa, and Tribal Textiles, or local shopping centers that support conservation efforts.
Day 5: After the previous day’s adventure, wake up with the sunrise at the bushcamp. After an early hot shower and breakfast at 8:00 AM, embark on a village tour at 8:30 AM. Visit local communities, green markets, and interact with the friendly Mfuwe residents. Consider visiting Mulberry Mongoose, Project Luangwa, and Tribal Textiles, or local shopping centers that support conservation efforts.
Day 6 - 8 Zikomo Safari Lodge (Nsefu Area)
Day 6 to 8: Transfer to Zikomo Safari Lodge in the valley. Enjoy various activities such as walking safaris and a pre-booked bush spa. Opt for a day drive in the park or visit “The Gap,” a unique area in the Game Management Area (GMA). Hike to the three rivers (Msandile, Lutembwe, and Kaphsla) that cut through the mountains and explore late Stone Age caves with ancient bushmen paintings. Observe birds, small rodents, baboons, jackals, porcupines, and bush pigs. Visit Kabilubilu Waters, hidden hot springs near Chikowa, 14 km from The Gap. Explore the nearby village, home to Zambia’s first lady, Betty Kaunda.
